River L. Ramirez (they/them) is a NYC based experimental artist, comedian, painter, musician, storyteller and writer who wrote, produced and directed the comedy special program “Pervert Everything” for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim produced by PFFR. Ramirez has appeared alongside Fred Armisen on HBO’s Los Espooky’s, written by Ana Fabrega and Julio Torres, and does character voice over work for Adult Swim’s BIRDGIRL, and Teenage Euthanasia. They have recently starred in Dave Paige’s short film “CUXBALL”alongside Natalie Palamides, which has premiered at Richmond international Film Fest, ProvinceTown film fest, Downtown LA fest and more, winning various awards. Ramirez is also featured in Julio Torres’s feature film “Problemista” coming out in 2024. They are set to work with Julio Torres and Ars Nova on an original one person live-show from 2024-2025.

Ramirez’s performance practice extends beyond the limits of television and comedy, their live performance practice being integral to their art. They host a bi-monthly solo show at Littlefield in Brooklyn, NY where they test out new experimental material and feature some of their favorite NYC performance artists which have included; Morgan Bassichis, Una Osato, Richard Perez, Franscesca D’uva, Ashton Womack, Julio Torres, and more…. They have been commissioned for original musical and dance based performances by Baryshnikov Arts Center, Gibney, Ars Nova Vision Residency program, and Moma PS1. In 2021 they debuted their solo musical show “GHOSTFOLK” at the Wiesbaden Biennale in Germany with musical artists Lou Tides and Sarah Galdes. In 2022 they toured with Arcade Fire’s Will Butler and The Sister Squares. They have written for High Maintenance and The National Lampoon Radio Hour and currently Gonzalo Cordova’s Women Wearing Shoulder Pads, set to premiere at Adult Swim. Named one of Comedy Central’s Up Next Comedians for 2018, Ramirez was featured in the San Francisco Cluster Fest comedy festival, and performed at the Public Theater in New York as part of the January, 2019, Under the Radar Festival.

Currently, Ramirez teaches a live performance class called “How To Be In Front Of People” at The Brick Aux in Brooklyn, NY. They have collaborated and taught with writer Charlie Markbreiter at Wendy’s Subway, and co-hosted a live drawing and writing show called “Art Is Easy” with Eternal Family TV. Ramirez’s latest zine is called “Feel Me”, a collaboration between them and Endless Editions small press.
